Military units

A guide to Tyrians military units, including attack, defence, speed, carrying capacity, training cost and requirements.

Units

Troops are military units researched and trained in a settlement. They defend your own or friendly settlements, attack enemies and plunder resources. Spies gather intelligence, rams destroy the wall, catapults destroy buildings, and a marshal can conquer an enemy settlement. Research and training cost resources, while trained troops occupy population capacity.

World speed and unit movement

This guide uses the standard server parameters: world speed is 1×, multiplying resource production and donkey breeding while shortening construction, unit research and training. The separate movement speed is 1× and shortens both troop and donkey travel. Beginner protection lasts 120 hours, and the map size is 401 × 401. These speeds do not change costs, combat values, carrying or building capacities, the 50,000 population capacity limit or authority recovery (1% of maximum authority per hour).

Research

Before a unit type can be trained, it must be researched in the army barracks: meet its requirements, pay the resources and wait for research to finish. Army Barracks level and world speed shorten research time. The table shows this world's costs and base duration in level-one army barracks.

The marshal is not researched at the army barracks, so he does not appear in the research table.

Training

Researched unit types can be trained in the army barracks. Multiple training orders for the same or different unit types can be queued. Orders finish in sequence, and the trained units join the settlement army when their order completes. Barracks level and world speed reduce training time.

The marshal requires golden armour and the other conditions listed on his page. He is trained at the Marshals' Palace, so its level reduces his training time.

Dismiss troops

Your own units stationed in the current settlement can be permanently dismissed through Army Barracks → Units → Dismiss units. Spent resources are not refunded, but their occupied population capacity is released immediately.

Conquering

The marshal is a special unit trained at the Marshals' Palace. If he survives a victorious attack, he can reduce an enemy settlement's authority and eventually conquer it. The exact conditions are explained in the Conquest tab.

This table shows combat values, speed and load capacity directly from the game unit catalogue.

Shows the unit's defence strength against infantry.
Defence power against cavalryDefence power against cavalry
Shows the unit's defence strength against cavalry.
Defence against archersDefence against archers
Shows the unit's defence strength against archers.
